Are Jews natural race realists?

The question whether Jews are natural race realists might seem odd to some considering that Jews, since the 1950s, have been at the forefront of promoting the “race is a social construct” myth.  In fact, Jews today, following the lead of people like Franz Boas and Israel Ehrenberg (aka Ashley Montagu), have almost single-handedly transformed the social sciences away from Darwinian models toward black-slatist / race-does-not-exist models.

But things were not always this way.  Prior to WWII, Jews (and by ‘Jews’ I mean mostly Ashkenazis) were some of the most adamant race realists.   Mitchell B. Hart’s 2011 book by Brandeis University Press, Jews and Race: Writings on Identity and Difference, 1880 – 1940 (reviewed here), shows that Jews, prior to WWII, overwhelmingly believed in the reality and importance of racial differences.  Even Franz Boas, who later would promote the “race is a social construct” myth, early on believed in the hardwired reality of racial differences.

So what happened?  In short, WWII happened, whereafter Jews decided race realism was bad for Jews and began to promote race denialism.  Israel Ehrenberg (aka Ashley Montagu) and others even muscled the United Nations into declaring that race isn’t biologically real.

But things aren’t so simple.   Although Jews today prescribe race denialism for the West, in Israel they are the ultimate race realists and ethno-nationalists.  For instance, not only do Israelis deport and sterilize African immigrants, but they also practice eugenics (in the form of genetic testing of potential mates to avoid hereditary disease).  And such a double-standard is the norm among American academics, where anthropologists like Jonathan Marks & Alan Goodman stir up lynch mobs against goys (such as Nicholas Wade) who argue for the general truth of human biodiversity, but they themselves are rather silent on Israel.

Although the acknowledgement of this double-standard  a decade ago was limited to the fringes, awareness is becoming more mainstream.   For instance, Ann Coulter recently wrote a syndicated op-ed criticizing the casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson for supporting tough immigration laws for Israel but open-borders and amnesty for the USA.  And there are hundreds of similar blog posts floating around the web.  Twitter is awash with tweets about Israeli ethno-nationalism.  Even this week there was a protest in Israel against African immigration, where the Israelis were chanting, “Niggers, go home!,” which gained a lot of attention on Twitter.

My guess is that Jews naturally believe in HBD and naturally are very ethnocentric, but are terrified at the idea of white gentiles believing in HBD and being ethnocentric.  But what is important here is the “natural inclination”.  If race realism is the natural inclination of Ashkenazis and post-WWII race denialism an aberration, will Jews come back around?  Will the adamant ethno-nationalism of Israel force them to once again publicly acknowledge race realism?

Perhaps for some.  Others might just go ahead and deny race realism for and denounce Israel.  It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

Predictions?

Poor whites outperform rich blacks on SAT

Much has been said recently about the “dumbing down” of the SAT, which presumably was done in part to attempt to close the ever persistent racial gap between the low end (blacks & mestizos) and the high end (whites and North Asians).

The Cathedral asserts that all racial differences in such tests are a result of economics or culture, but this explanation seems very unlikely.  As recently noted by Steve Sailer, on the 2008 SAT poor whites outperformed rich blacks.  More specifically, whites from family incomes of $20 – $40K outperformed blacks from family incomes of more than $200K.   Why are such privileged blacks scoring so low on the SAT?  The obvious answer, noted by many others, is genetics and the fact that these affluent blacks probably have their incomes as a result of affirmative action.

And speaking of affirmative action, it might very well be that the poor whites outperforming rich blacks on the SAT are the most discriminated against group in college admissions.  As discovered by Thomas Espenshade and Alexandria Radford in their landmark study:

“When lower-class whites are matched with lower-class blacks and other non-whites the degree of the non-white advantage becomes astronomical: lower-class Asian applicants are seven times as likely to be accepted to the competitive private institutions as similarly qualified whites, lower-class Hispanic applicants eight times as likely, and lower-class blacks ten times as likely. These are enormous differences and reflect the fact that lower-class whites were rarely accepted to the private institutions Espenshade and Radford surveyed. Their diversity-enhancement value was obviously rated very low.”

But don’t expect the Cathedral to speak up for these poor, non-diversity-enhancement whites anytime soon.

 

America’s Disappointing New Elite

Steve Sailer recently posted a couple pieces (here and here) about Skull & Bones, the secret society at Yale, which got me to thinking about the 2009 exposé at Gawker.  While the popular imagination envisions what Skull & Bones once was — well-dressed, well-mannered WASP males — the reality of Skull & Bones today is entirely different.   After all, in recent years, Skull & Bones has become co-ed and multicultural. Here is what Skull & Bones is today.  Seriously, you’ve got to look at these photos of a 2008 Skull & Bones party at the Skull & Bones compound on Deer Island. I don’t know what photo I like the best:  the Asian & mulatto doing shots together, the Asian & mulatto doing some sort of crip-walk / jungle dance, or the black woman jumping / dancing on the furniture.

Whatever problems America’s old WASP elite might have had (before they were replaced by an Ashkenazi elite), at least the WASP elite was biologically representative of America’s founding stock and sympathetic to its preservation, as evidenced by the Immigration Act of 1924. It seems that the Ashkenazis now are giving way to new Third World hipsters, although the latter’s arrival could be at the expense of remaining WASPs and not Ashkenazis (as in Ivy League admissions).  Still, if Skull & Bones is a microcosm of America’s new coming elite, God help us all.  However, don’t let reality prevent the popular imagination from envisioning Skull & Bones as well-mannered WASP males, since secretly and aesthetically this is what the popular imagination truly desires.

In other news, UCLA drops Shakespeare and Chaucer requirement for English majors. Maybe students can just watch Univision in place of Shakespeare and Chaucer.  Idiocracy cometh.

School Vouchers: A Trojan Horse to Destroy Private Schools

While I am sympathetic to some libertarian ideas, I find it interesting how most mainstream libertarians are completely untethered from reality. The cause of this is probably two-fold:  (1) libertarians are above average in intelligence, and (2) they are highly analytical.  As a result, they tend to take models that might work in certain circumstances and then abstractly prescribe them for all of humanity.  (This tendency toward universalism, by the way, isn’t just a libertarian problem; it’s a white problem.)  For libertarians in particular, the problem of taking abstract models and then blindly applying them to all of humanity, is that, for the most part, mainstream libertarians are completely ignorant of human biodiversity.  In short, their economic models lack essential data.

Case in point:  school vouchers. Vouchers are the educational panacea for most mainstream free-market libertarians.  Some libertarian think tanks have entire teams of people devoted to promoting school vouchers.  “School choice,” they say, “will end all our woes.”

The problem with school vouches?  Let’s see….

Most public schools across America have been completely devastated by hordes of unruly, low-IQ blacks and mestizos. The only refuge for many whites is either homeschooling or private schools.  Many have not the luxury for the former, so private schools are the only option.

Unfortunately, private schools today are unable by law to discriminate against students based on race.  (Interestingly, you don’t see libertarians today arguing for freedom of association for private organizations.)  Private schools, however,  can economically wall off the ghetto:  tuition.  Most blacks and mestizos cannot afford or do not want to pay private tuition.

Now, if you wanted to destroy the last vestiges of civility among primary education, what would be more efficient than smashing this economic wall?

Enter vouchers.  Vouchers in short:  We’ll give taxpayer money to violent, low-IQ blacks and mestizos so that they can go to private schools and destroy them too!

Only the most myopic fool – i.e. beltway libertarian – would support such an idea. Granted, mainstream libertarians’ motivation for vouchers is usually a result of hatred of teachers’ unions.  But talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Has a more short-sighted idea ever been put forward?  (Well, yes, it has — open borders — but I’ll leave that for another discussion.)

I doubt most free-market wonks have even thought of the long-term implications of school vouchers.  But the left has, which is why more leftists continue to come out in support of vouchers.  Leftists, 1; Libertarians, 0.

We should start a Bryan “Libertard” Caplan award for some of the most short-sighted libertarian ideas put forward.

Even with school vouchers, one way Ashkenazis will get around the “diversity enrichment” is by having an esoteric ethno-religion.  The hordes will stampede to the upper-class white schools, not the Jewish day schools, which the hordes would find peculiar and uninviting.  There can be many advantages to having an ethno-religion in a multi-racial state.

The UK: Island of Geniuses

There was much hype this week about a small British company that is on the verge of “curing cancer.”  The Independent reports:

A single-storey workshop on a nondescript business park in Oxfordshire is not the sort of place where you would expect scientific revolutions to take place. But behind the white-painted walls of this small start-up company, scientists are talking about the impossible – a potential cure for cancer.

For the past 20 years, the former academics who set up Immunocore have worked hard on realising their dream of developing a totally new approach to cancer treatment, and finally it looks as if their endeavours are beginning to pay off. In the past three weeks, the company has signed contracts with two of the biggest players in the pharmaceuticals industry which could lead to hundreds of millions of pounds flowing into the firm’s unique research on cancer immunotherapy – using the body’s own immune system to fight tumour cells.

Immunocore is probably the only company in the world that has developed a way of harnessing the power of the immune system’s natural-born killer cells: the T-cells of the blood which nature has designed over millions of years of evolution to seek out and kill invading pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria. T-cells are not nearly as good at finding and killing cancer cells, but the hard-nosed executives of the drugs industry – who are notoriously cautious when it comes to investments – believe Immunocore may have found a way around this so that cancer patients in future are able to fend off their disease with their own immune defences.

The leader of the research team, Bent Jakobsen, is Danish born, but the team largely English, which got me to thinking of the brilliance of British accomplishment.

Science isn’t truly practiced everywhere.  As Gregory Cochran illustrates with this graphic, science is only performed in certain regions of the world (mostly by European or North Asian-descended peoples).  And even then, certain European groups seem to outperform others (esp. the British, Germans, and French).

Regarding Charles Murray’s Human Accomplishment, it’s really quite remarkable how many of the world’s greatest accomplishments were performed by the British.  The UK has been a true intellectual powerhouse.

Quite an impressive list, given the UK’s size, which can only make one proud of his English ancestry.

On the downside, one only worries that mass Third World immigration into the UK will eventually have a dysgenic effect, bringing this long trend of accomplishment to an end.

Outstanding Edge interview with Napoleon Chagnon

The Edge offers a thorough interview with Napoleon Chagnon (whom we already discussed in post “Cultural Anthropologists: Small-Minded Guardians of Political Correctness“), which includes Steven Pinker, Richard Wrangham, Daniel C. Dennett, and David Haig, with an introduction by Richard Dawkins.  It’s really a must read.

Here’s Dawkin’s introduction:

“Napoleon Chagnon is a Living World Treasure. Arguably our greatest anthropologist, he is brave on two fronts. As a field worker in the Amazon forest he has lived, intimately and under conditions of great privation, with The Fierce People at considerable physical danger to himself. But the wooden clubs and poison-tipped arrows of the Yanomamö were matched by the verbal clubs and toxic barbs of his anthropologist colleagues in the journal pages and conference halls of the United States. And it is not hard to guess which armamentarium was the more disagreeable to him.

Dawkins “gets it,” although he plays coy. Recently on Twitter, however, Dawkins is becoming more daring (you know, opposing anti-white racism and talking about eugenics and all).  Hopefully, he’ll eventually get himself Watson’d and prove he has a pair.

By the way, it goes without saying, the Cultural Marxists are going to have their panties in a wad over this Chagnon interview.

I know many people, especially libertarians, overuse the phrase ‘police state’.  I have rarely ever used the phrase.  However, after reading these two stories today, I could not help but thinking that the USA really is becoming a police state…

The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs that enable analysts to track foreign targets, according to a top-secret document obtained by The Washington Post.

The program, code-named PRISM, has not been made public until now. It may be the first of its kind. The NSA prides itself on stealing secrets and breaking codes, and it is accustomed to corporate partnerships that help it divert data traffic or sidestep barriers. But there has never been a Google or Facebook before, and it is unlikely that there are richer troves of valuable intelligence than the ones in Silicon Valley.

A push is on to make the portraits on the walls — white men, almost all — reflect the diverse face of the university today

CAMBRIDGE — The faces peer out, unsmiling, from the gilded frames lining the sea-green walls of the faculty room in Harvard’s historic University Hall. Some are mustachioed, a few bespectacled. They’re dressed in three-piece suits or cloaked in robes, sporting cravats or bow ties.

In this ornate meeting room adorned with crystal chandeliers, Greek columns, and Oriental carpets hang images of Harvard’s most venerable figures — row upon row of stone-faced alumni, professors, and presidents. They are mostly men; all are white.

Of the approximately 750 oil portraits that grace the libraries, dining commons, and undergraduate residences of the nation’s oldest university, roughly 690 were of white men, as of a 2002 inventory by the curator of the university’s portrait collection. Only two portraits, commissioned in the 1980s and ’90s, were of minorities. The remaining portraits were of white women — Radcliffe professors, benefactors’ family members, presidents’ wives.

Apparently, many people find all these paintings and sculptures of white people to be offensive so they want to move them and put in their place paintings and sculptures of non-whites.  They say they won’t get rid of these paintings of white people just yet — as long as there is still space, but when space becomes a concern we know what their priorities will be.

As anyone knows, East Coast WASPs ran Harvard from its inception until about the mid 20th century.  In the early 20th century, WASPs opened up Harvard to Ashkenazis, out of a sense of fair play, who quickly came to dominate the school.  Since then, Ashkenazis have run Harvard.

What is most interesting is that the memory of the very WASP benefactors who built Harvard — so that others could benefit from it — is literally being wallpapered over.  White people can be very naive when it comes to racial politics.

Cultural Anthropologists: Small-Minded Guardians of Political Correctness

The plight of anthropology is an interesting one.  If one were living in the early 20th century, anthropology would have been one of the most interesting subjects to study.  Anthropologists were beginning scientifically to understand human biodiversity, wrote on it, and had great influence on other disciplines.  Many of the best and brightest minds of this era, if not anthropologists themselves, were at least interested in anthropology.  Fast forward to today, and the subject of anthropology (esp. “cultural” anthropology) is nearly a joke, which as no influence outside its department and is generally mocked by better and brighter scholars.  While there still are many serious physical anthropologists, cultural anthropology has turned into a sort of religious cult (a secular version of religious creationists) whose only function seems to be to guard and protect the lies of The Cathedral (aka political correctness).  Much of this transition, from seriousness to religious cult, has to do with the Marxist Franz Boas (recently proven to be a fraud) who sought to divorce anthropology from evolutionary theory in the name of Marxist egalitarianism.

But, as I say above, there are exceptions to this trend, namely brilliant physical anthropologists like Henry Harpending and Peter Frost — so not all is lost.

This brings me to evolutionary anthropologist Napoleon Chagnon and his new book Noble Savages: My Life Among Two Dangerous Tribes—The Yanomamö and the Anthropologists, which has the guardians of PC worked up into self-righteous indignant hissy fits.  Chagnon seems to be guilty of speaking the truth about the violent nature of Amerindian hunter-gatherers, something which just can’t be allowed under the auspices of New Speak.  That’s Chagnon’s real crime.  He’s a real scholar among Cultural Marxist kool-aid drinking Lysenkoists.

Tolkien, HBD and German Romanticism

On an email list, there has been much discussion about J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.  There are many theories about Tolkien’s motivation in writing his fictional works but many of them seem to miss the obvious.  From list:

“There has been a tendency since WWII to divorce Tolkien’s writings from their Germanic context. Some people have even gone so far to suggest that Lord of the Rings is an anti-German WWII analogy. Upon closer inspection, however, this claim is ridiculous. While Fellowship of the Ring was published in 1954 (and Return of the King in 1955), Tolkien published the Hobbit in 1937 and already had the general outline of Lord of the Rings sketched out before WWII even commenced. Furthermore, Tolkien was a professor of Anglo-Saxon and Germanic Languages at Oxford. Many of the characters, names and events in the Lord of the Rings were taken directly from Germanic paganism (e.g. the Prose Edda, Beowulf, etc.). For instance, elves, dwarves, trolls, dragons, and rings of power are all directly from Germanic paganism. (Some other things Tolkien invented, such as Hobbits.) The various languages that Tolkien creates for Lord of the Rings are heavily influenced by the philology of Germanic languages (Gothic, Old Norse, Anglo-Saxon, etc.) as well as from ancient Celtic languages and Finnish. In short, Tolkien was working in the broader tradition of Germanic Romanticism (much like the Grimm Brothers and Wagner) but was writing in English. Because of the anti-German sentiment in the English-speaking world after WWII, his writings were quickly divorced from this Germanic tradition in the public imagination and this shotgun divorce continues to this day.”

This is obviously true but political correctness, esp. anti-Germanic sentiment in post WWII America, seems to remain dominant.

What is Christian about the Lord of the Rings is Tolkien’s division of Middle Earth into Good vs. Evil, unlike the Iliad which is divided into Friend vs. Foe.

Tolkien also seemed to be quite interested in heritable phenotypes.  For instance, the Hobbits Bilbo, Frodo, Merry and Pippin were all Tooks (of the Fallohides group), an ethnicity of Hobbits who on average were taller and fairer than other Hobbits. The Dunedain and Rohirrim are taller and fairer than the men of the South.  In fact, Middle Earth seems to replicate Medieval Europe: Men of the West (Middle Earth & Europe) are taller and fairer than people from elsewhere and the upper classes are taller and fairer than the lower classes.

Anti-White Affirmative Action Policies in Higher Education

I’ve read many of Ron Unz’s essays over the years (as well as his comments at Sailer’s blog).  His essay on Hispanic crime was flawed.  His recent essay on IQ was lacking. But his recent essay on elite college admissions in the USA, “The Myth of American Meritocracy,” is the best thing he has ever written; it’s his magnum opus; it’s one of the best essays of the year. In the essay, Unz demonstrates:

1) A ceiling has been set on Asian admissions into elite universities.

2) High IQ whites are underrepresented at elite colleges.

3) Black and Hispanic affirmative action has come at the expense of white admissions (not Jewish).

4) Jewish academic achievement at the top end has collapsed.

5) Jews are the most overrepresented group in elite college admissions (and it’s due to ethnic nepotism, not academic merit).

Interestingly, Unz’s essay received much attention, but nearly all the responses dealt with point (1) above. Very little was said about the other points, when the most interesting finding of the essay was the collapse of Jewish intellectual achievement and the over-representation of Jews at elite schools.  Even if Ashkenazis have higher average IQs than whites, there are many more whites than Ashkenazis.  Given a normal distribution of IQ scores, high IQ whites (as Lynn and others have noted) should outnumber Ashkenazis 7:1.  Yet, there is almost a 1:1 ratio of Ashkenazis and whites at elite colleges, although Ashekanazis only make up over 2% of the population and whites 63% of the population.

But to the victors go the spoils, which raises the interesting observation that the nearly complete replacement of WASPs by Ashkenazis at elite institutions in the US is one of the most revolutionary events in US history but it’s something that probably 98% of Americans are unaware of and it’s barely been discussed in the mainstream media.  Essays like Unz’s, however, might crack this silence.

Over at his blog, Unz summarizes the Jewish responses to the collapse of Jewish intellectual achievement. Jews find it “depressing,” to summarize the responses in one word.

Regarding whites’ under-representation at colleges, here are a couple other recent studies.

And The Center for Equal Opportunity (CEO) recently released a report showing anti-white admissions policies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison:

“The odds ratio favoring African Americans and Hispanics over whites was 576-to-1 and 504-to-1, respectively, using the SAT and class rank while controlling for other factors. Thus, the median composite SAT score for black admittees was 150 points lower than for whites and Asians, and the Latino median SAT score was 100 points lower. Using the ACT, the odds ratios climbed to 1330-to-1 and 1494-to-1, respectively, for African Americans and Hispanics over whites.

For law school admissions, the racial discrimination found was also severe, with the weight given to ethnicity much greater than given to, for example, Wisconsin residency. Thus, an out-of-state black applicant with grades and LSAT scores at the median for that group would have had a 7 out 10 chance of admission and an out-of-state Hispanic a 1 out of 3 chance—but an in-state Asian with those grades and scores had a 1 out of 6 chance and an in-state white only a 1 out of 10 chance.”

Former classics professor Steven Farron also has a book out,  The Affirmative Action Hoax: Diversity, Character, and Other Lies (which Dennis Mangan reviews here), which provides a history of affirmative action, chronicles its injustices and absurdities, and shows the lengths to which universities will go to accommodate under-performing blacks and Hispanics all in the name of diversity!

Also noteworthy is law professor Amy Wax’s recent article “Disparate Impact Realism,” which argues that under disparate-impact laws whites will be the ultimate losers, as lower-IQ blacks and Hispanics will always be under-represented in higher IQ positions, which, when rectified by disparate-impact affirmative action, will turn away more qualified whites.

Frank Salter: War Against Human Nature

Over at the Australian journal Quadrant, Frank Salter has written a series of articles on political correctness.  Although these essays are about Australia, most of what Salter says could apply to any Western country.  These pieces definitely worth reading.  See:
